چکیده

Introduction There has been a great interest in applying Magnetic Resonance Elastography (MRE) to quantify the visco-elastic properties of the prostate in-vivo, with the goal of imaging prostate cancer. Current MRE methods [1-3] have limitations with acquiring high-SNR motion encoded MR-signals at 1.5T, and inducing shear waves of sufficient amplitude into the prostate reliably and in a patientfriendly manner. The aim of this study is to assess the feasibility of MRE of the prostate with trans-perineal excitation at 3T.

Magnetic resonance elastography: feasibility of liver stiffness measurements in healthy volunteers at 3T.

AIM To demonstrate the feasibility of obtaining liver stiffness measurements with magnetic resonance elastography (MRE) at 3T in normal healthy volunteers using the same technique that has been successfully applied at 1.5 T. METHODS AND MATERIALS The study was approved by the local ethics committee and written informed consent was obtained from all volunteers. Eleven volunteers (mean age 35 ±...

Improvements in Hepatic Stiffness Assessment with 3-D/3-axis MR Elastography

Introduction: MR Elastography (MRE) (1) is an MRI-based technique for quantitatively assessing the mechanical properties of soft tissues by studying the propagation of shear waves. Multiple studies (2-4) have reported on developments of MRE for assessing the viscoelastic properties of abdominal organs. In general, MRE inversion algorithms require datasets that sample the pattern of wave propaga...

Assessment of Kidney Stiffness in a Swine Model of Renal Arterial Stenosis with 7-D MR Elastography

Introduction: MR Elastography (MRE) is an MRI-based technique for quantitatively assessing the mechanical properties of soft tissues by visualizing propagating shear waves in tissues (1). Ideally, the MRE acquisition would involve obtaining displacement data for 3 dimensions in space, 3 cyclic displacement directions (x, y, and z) at each point in space, and at multiple time points in the wave ...

Three-dimensional analysis of shear wave propagation observed by in vivo magnetic resonance elastography of the brain.

Dynamic magnetic resonance elastography (MRE) is a non-invasive method for the quantitative determination of the mechanical properties of soft tissues in vivo. In MRE, shear waves are generated in the tissue and visualized using phase-sensitive MR imaging methods. The resulting two-dimensional (2-D) wave images can reveal in-plane elastic properties when possible geometrical biases of the wave ...

Evaluating the Feasibility of Multi-Slice Endorectal Magnetic Resonance Elastography for Prostate Cancer Localization

Introduction: The stiffness of malignant prostate tissue is elevated as compared to normal or benign tissue, which suggests that the biomechanical properties of prostate tissue may be an independent marker for prostate cancer. Using dynamic MR elastography, micrometer amplitude shear waves are propagated into tissue, and the resulting tissue displacements are measured to calculate the underlyin...
